Production Planning and Control

All planning an control activities of production are subsumed under the term Production Planning and Control (Produktionsplanung und -steuerung (PPS)). Current PPS systems (still) contain many conceptionell deficites. They are more or less only applied for data management. In general, they are not utilized for planning. Our approach of production segmentation (see picture) and of decentralized planning reduces the complexity of planning issues. Our hierarchical and capacity-orientated planning concept and our individual lot-sizing and scheduling algorithms guarantee reliable production plans for divers types of production segments.
